How does ShipFaced calculate savings for the Ultimate Value Package?#
The Ultimate Value Package isn’t only drinks, so we count only the drinks part.
$90.00 Ultimate Value Package, per day$25.50 Premium Wi-Fi, per day$15.00 $50 excursion + $25 dining, one-time, over 5 days$49.50 what your drinks have to beat, per dayOn a 5-day cruise that’s $49.50 a day, or $247.50. Carnival charged you $450 for the bundle, and the app shows you both, so you can see exactly where the difference comes from.
Shorter cruise, bigger daily bite. The $75 in credits is one-time, so it spreads over fewer days: a 7-day works out to $53.79, a 3-day to $39.50, a 2-day to $27.00. One-day sailings go negative on paper, so we floor them at $0 and every drink counts as pure winnings.
We assume you use both credits. A $50 excursion discount is worth exactly $0 if you never book an excursion. Skip both on a 5-day cruise and you’re really paying about $15 a day more than we’re showing. Ultimate’s rate is all-in, though — no gratuity on top, unlike CHEERS!
Spa and photo credits? Not counted. Too unpredictable to model honestly across cruisers. Use yours and call it a bonus on top of whatever the app says.
-
Why is my break-even lower than what I paid Carnival?#
Two different numbers, and both are real. Carnival charged you the headline bundle rate. ShipFaced tracks against the drinks portion, once Wi-Fi and the two credits come out. Both figures are shown — in setup and again in Settings — labelled separately, so you can always see which is which.
-
Why does my 1-day or 2-day cruise show such a low break-even?#
Because the $75 in credits is one-time and lands on fewer days, so it takes a much bigger bite out of each one. A 3-day Ultimate comes to $39.50 a day and a 2-day to $27.00. A one-day sailing goes past zero altogether — the Wi-Fi and the credits outvalue the bundle on their own — so the app floors it at $0 rather than show you a negative break-even. Every drink is then pure winnings.
-
Should I include gratuity in my package price?#
Yes — ShipFaced wants the price you actually pay. The two CHEERS! buttons add Carnival’s 18% for you, because $69.95 and $74.95 are the pre-gratuity rates. Ultimate Value is all-in already. If you type a custom price, include the gratuity yourself; that’s why the setup field is labelled gratuity included.
-
Where do my drink prices come from — does the app know the menu?#
No. You enter the price. From then on the app remembers the drinks and bars you’ve logged, so ordering the same thing again is one tap. There is no menu database and no line’s bar prices are prefilled — only Carnival’s own package rates, which are published.
-
My cruise line isn’t in the list.#
Pick Other and set your own daily limit and package price. The picker carries every line that caps its package, plus the big uncapped ones. The rest were left out on purpose: with no cap to track, a longer list cost scrolling and bought nothing.
Drink limits and days
-
Where does my daily drink limit come from, and can I change it?#
It’s seeded from your cruise line’s own published terms, and it’s editable at setup. That’s deliberate rather than a shortcut: lines change these terms, tiers differ within a line, and crew apply discretion. The seeded number is a starting point, not a ruling.
-
Do non-alcoholic drinks count against my limit?#
By default, no. Tick the non-alcoholic box and the drink is still logged and still costed — it just stays off the limit count.
Two lines are the exception. On Holland America’s Signature package and Margaritaville at Sea’s Ultimate Beverage Chill the cap includes non-alcoholic drinks, so leave the box unticked there and they’ll count the way the ship counts them.
-
Is Carnival’s 15-drink limit part of CHEERS!?#
No — it’s a ship rule, not a package perk, and it applies whether or not you hold a package. Fifteen alcoholic drinks per 24 hours, measured 6am to 6am.
-
When does a cruise day roll over?#
At 6am, matching the industry standard — Carnival, Princess, MSC and Cunard all state it. A nightcap at 1am counts toward the day that started the previous morning, exactly as the ship counts it.
-
My cruise is over. Will the app wipe my data?#
Not unless you say so. The morning after you disembark, ShipFaced offers to start a new cruise. Cancel, and the finished trip and all its stats stay put. Start a new one, and the drink log clears for the new sailing.
-
Can I track more than one cruise, or see past cruises?#
One at a time. Your finished cruise stays put until you start the next one — cancel the prompt after you disembark and the trip and its stats are still there. But setting a new cruise up clears the log, and there’s no archive of earlier sailings.
If you want to keep a trip’s numbers, screenshot the Stats screen before you set the next one up.
Data, privacy and the app
-
Where is my data stored? Does it sync between my phone and my partner’s?#
On your device, and only there. No servers, no account, no sync. The honest flip side: the log doesn’t survive deleting the app, and two people tracking together each keep their own.
-
What happens if I get a new phone?#
The log doesn’t come with you. Everything lives in the app’s own storage on the device, with no account and nothing on a server, so a new phone starts empty — and so does reinstalling on the same one.
There’s no export yet, so if you’re switching phones mid-cruise, screenshot the Stats screen before you do.
-
Can I track two people on one phone?#
No — one cruise, one drinker. A package is tracked against a single person’s drinks, so a couple who both bought one need the app on both phones. It’s free, so that costs nothing but a second download.
-
Does ShipFaced work without Wi-Fi?#
Yes. Nothing is logged over the network, so it works in the middle of the ocean with the ship’s internet package unbought. The tip jar is the only part that needs a connection.
-
Does ShipFaced track me or sell my data?#
No. No analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising SDK, no third-party trackers of any kind. Nobody counts your drinks but you.
-
Can I fix a drink I logged wrong?#
Yes. Any logged drink can be edited or deleted — its price, its name, the bar, and whether it was non-alcoholic. Your totals and the break-even figure recalculate straight away.
-
Is ShipFaced free?#
Completely. No ads, no subscription, nothing behind a paywall. There’s an optional tip jar if you want to support it — tipping unlocks nothing, because there’s nothing to unlock.
